Homes where a school once stood

De Tasmanhof stands on Tasmanstraat, on the site of the former De Wereldwijzer primary school, which burned down on 16 January 2006. The site then lay empty for years while plans came and went.

Local residents campaigned for green space in the neighbourhood, which led to a compromise in 2013: homes at the back of the site and a city garden along the street. The 26 homes were completed in October 2014. Each has three rooms and around 82 m².

Like other residents of the area, Tasmanhof residents can get a season ticket for De Zeeheld, literally around the corner.
